As far as Florida goes, when someone yells "hurricane!" be sure to duck and cover. :D The past few years, Florida seems to have a huge bulls eye placed on top of it.

I still think you should reconsider the paypal. When a friend of mine was out of work for a few months last year, I would take him out to eat a lot of the time. It was not payment for friendship, it was friendship personified.

Hey Fel, this is the direct link to the Huntington, WV freecycycle page. You just need a yahooid to log in and post that you need a man's 10-speed bicycle. Unfortunately, the Huntington freecycle is very new, only 3 months old and there are only 150 members so far. However, it's very possible that one of those 150 people have a 10-speed they don't want.

Ditto. I live in the Florida Panhandle, but that's closer than WV was. Remember, http://www.nhc.noaa.gov is your friend when you live in the Plywood state.

Very true! I use the IR satellite photos for hurricane monitoring since the visible ones tend to get kinda dark at night. <grin>.

Also, NOAA and its subsidiary organization National Weather Service helps no matter where you live. In Illinois, I use mostly NWS Doppler radar for severe storm info. I'm a member of the local ESDA http://tazewellesda.org/ volunteer storm spotting group that watches for tornadoes and other nasty stuff developing. We have a lot of radio amateurs and sent a couple to help after Katrina.

For weather monitoring from immediate to several days in the future, I created several web pages ansd "stole" some of the NWS images and
loops.

The full disc satellite photos near the bottom of the broadband weather page show severe weather over a week in advance developing in the eastern Atlantic near Africa.

At the end of this semester, I'll be leaving West Virginia and moving to Tampa, Florida myself. I'll transfer to UCF I think, they're a good school and not very expensive.
Hmm, it looks like im not the only one moving this year.

I echo Hearly's welcome, I'm an hour south of Tampa in Sarasota . . . come down and see world famous Siesta Key Beach sometime :) (forgive the shameless area plug, but it's a chance to meet the infamous Fel, how can I pass that up?)

So, whats the lastest update on the car? Driven into the ground yet? I jinxed myself fel. I talked about feeling your pain with the car, and then my fuel tank cracked and nearly caught my car on fire. So now my car is in the shop also.

Car is going...but slowly. I can't push it much over 2500rpm, or it loses compression and blows the dipstick out of the engine.

After 3 days of careful driving, I've learned the limits I can put on it and now drive a new way home that's all back roads, so I don't have any huge hills to climb and i also don't have to worry about traffic.

I've started writing again btw...I killed about 3 pages off demon 6 cause I didn't like the way it was going and have restarted at page 12. I should be done with it soon.

I have an electric scooter gathering dust in my garage....(is now illegal to ride them in texas) is not very powerful ( depends on what you weigh) but other than that, might want to look for something similar in your area (would send you mine but shipping would be a killer).

Fel, I'm sorry to hear about your current situation. I can kinda relate in some ways, at one point my truck got stuck in 2nd gear in downtown Jacksonville. My Florida peeps can back me up on how crazy traffic is there. Anyway, hopefully you'll make it okay until you move. And if you have to drive your car to FL, at least it's pretty much all downhill from where you are now. :P
