Petition to save windows XP

Hello Y'all, I found this today and thought it would be a good idea to pass it on, now no idea if this is the place to do it, but if it isn't just delete it. Anyway, as of June 2008 windows will stop selling windows XP, as of April 2009 they will discontinue all support ( warranties and such) for windows XP. Now since the next version of windows is not expected to be on the market till sometime in 2010, (and I'd wait for SP1 on it before installing it anyway) . This will mean that when you get a new computer you will have to use Vista, with all its bugs and faults. This is also true for all those who build their own systems as you will not be able to even buy the OS from anyone other than perhaps ebay if your lucky. Anyway, I've heard all the complaints from the people that come to me with problems with vista, and I REALLY don't want to be force to use the OS, but I found this petition today, signed it, and decided to pass it on to y'all. Link is as follows.

I've tried Vista on my grandmothers computer, and that's something I’ll never get if I can avoid it. XP for me.

Petition signed.

signed for the simple reason, thats all I use. Shame the bastards force us to update on something that most people might not want.
Plus can some one tell me the difference between the two OS? thanks in advance

Several good reasons to keep XP are listed here:

They are probably also the reasons why MS want to get rid of it. :(

And the little boy cried wolf

After doing a little research (well okay a lot, it took me at least 15 minutes to find the page I wanted) I found out this: http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/?p1=3223

It states that the extended support which INCLUDES service packs lasts until 2014.

This page http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/ ... 12&C2=1173 states that: Support ends 24 months after the next service pack releases or at the end of the product's support life cycle, whichever comes first.

Annnnd http://www.microsoft.com/windows/lifecy ... packs.mspx says SP3 for Windows XP Professional is currently planned for 1H CY2008. This date is preliminary.

So, assuming that SP3 is actually released on time there will be support until the beginning of 2010, every month it's delayed is another month until it ends its support period.

You're right when you say they'll stop selling it soonish though. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/lifecycle/default.mspx lists the date as June 30, 2008 for OEM/retail sales BUT, computer builders will still be able to provide it on their systems until January 31, 2009.

Asus, also kinda helped extend the life of XP. They introduced a mini laptop last fall called the EEEpc with Linux installed,,,since the initial release, people have been installing XP on them, and now Asus is shipping them with XP Home preinstalled, Seems Vista has to much bloat.
