Dallas, Texas, USA is "down under"? :)

That's where a trace route impiles the server is located.

It all depends on where you buy your maps. Check out the link for a selection.

Cute.
I would find one of those maps almost completely unusable. :)
I am way too used to north at the top.

You are too conventional and set in your ways.

The history of maps shows a variety of approaches, including the medieval "Mappa Mundi" in Hereford Cathedral, which is as much a religious encyclopedia and history as a map, and shows the Centre of the world as Jerusalem.

There are also wonderful road maps from the 17th Century, which show roads as straight lines, but they show the sights and inns along the way.

Mariners maps would show profiles of the coast, as seen from a ship.

Each one is a valid approach and suitable for the use it is put to.

Yup. Not likely to change, either. :)

Given the variety of ways mankind has used for maps, I wonder what the Faey would use?

Space is three dimensional, so you would need an interesting design, possibly using vectors.

Projecting a spherical planet onto a flat sheet has different problems - the Mercantor projection is the most common, but others are also used -

I wonder what the faey would use?

VM host ran out of disk space, which resulted in the hypervisor pausing the VM.

Oh that is always my worst nightmare. Make sure that the Hosting company isn't keeping snapshots longer than 24 hrs. The delta file aspect on the VM hypervisors out there don't like long running snapshots. The files grow exponentially. I'd also ask them if you are in a shared datastore for your VM/VMs versus a Datastore of your own.

P.S. Sorry for geeking out on everyone there.

P.P.S. Sorry about the crash too.
